Project Management

We understand the various aspects that make project management successful, like the project management framework, the processes of project management and the knowledge areas as defined in the PMBOK  (trademark).
The standard project management life cycle typically passes through four stages , i.e. definition, planning, execution, and delivery. The starting point begins the moment the project is given the go-ahead (when a contract agreement is signed). Project effort starts slowly, builds to a peak and then declines to delivery of the project to the customer.

  • Definition stage-specifications of the project are defined, project objectives are established, project teams are formed and major responsibilities are assigned.
  • Planning stage-plans are developed to determine the project steps, beneficiaries, timeframes, quality standards and budget.
  • Execution stage-the major portion of the project work takes place-both physical and mental. Time, cost and specification measures are used for control. The project managers will ensure that the project is on schedule within the budget and meeting specifications.
  • Delivery stage-delivering the project product to the customer, may involve capacity building and transfer of documents.

Ethics

Ethical considerations are given paramount importance at HAI.  All research projects are executed within the fundamental principles of research, as stipulated in the international guidelines of health research, such as the Universal declaration of Human rights of 1948, Helsinki declaration of 1964 and the Belmont Report of 1979. These fundamental principles are:

  • Autonomy-Respect for human independence
  • Beneficence-reasonability in terms of benefits of the research
  • Justice-advantages for all who participate in the research.

This is done through seeking of ethical clearance from the relevant bodies before the project has been implemented.
